Race 3, North Americans July 3, 2010

(c) Ashley Morgan Henderson
The Morning began with a protest hearing reminding us that without having our protest flag raised the request is invalid, and the day ended with "all playing nice" according to Matt Bounds, PRO. Day 2 of racing was very different than day 1, the wind for starters began at the day high of 15 knots and worked its way with guest around 23 knots. I was not on the race committee boat which was a good thing since there was now 400 feet of anchor line and an extra anchor to insure that the committee boat would not move! My day was spent entertaining spectators from Annapolis (Patrick Martensson parents), a news reporter, and a photographer; later followed by Mrs Cheer and Devries for snacks during race 2.

CAN 230 (Hans Fogh, Roger Cheer, Grodie Devries) had another stellar day with a 1st and a 2nd, fellow Canidian CAN 210 (Ken Davy, Eric Novina, Dave Hymers) had an excellent day placing 4th and 1st. CAN 211 (Kevin Brown, Mark Bird, Jim McGuiness), USA 780 (Brian White, Bruce Gualiotla, Brad Dumas) and CAN 227 (Tom Mitchell, Francisco Preze, Konrad Davy) are among some of the sailors that have been inching their way into the top sailors. They demonstrated skill and consistency of race wins to closer to the single digits, all 3 finished just outside the top 5 (6, 7, 8).

Canadians denominated the 2010 North Americans with only 6 from the states, giving disappointment to Hans Fogh (and many others) that he expressed during the dinner that was held at Larry and Natasha Votary. The Votary's hosted a lovely party with Stuart giving a preview to his new book (soon to be best seller among the class) Code of Competition and Hans talking about the races describing their success and failures.

To discuss the book further please see the forum titled 'Competitive Opinions'.
