CHICAGO YACHT CLUBVERVE CUP INSHORE REGATTABELMONT STATIONAUGUST 28-29, 2010NOTICE OF RACERULES1.1 The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing 2009-2012 (RRS).1.2 Chicago Yacht Club is the organizing authority for this event.1.3 Class rules prohibiting marine band radios and cellular telephones shall not apply. All boats are required to carry an operating VHF marine-band radio while racing in this event.1.4 Class rules prohibiting GPS navigation devices shall not apply. The following conditions shall apply to the use of GPS navigation devices: When class rules prohibit the use of a GPS while racing, such a device may be used provided that it shall be installed in a position or covered in such a way that no data may be taken from it while sailing. Data produced by such a device may be viewed only at the dock or on shore.2 ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY2.1 The regatta is open to boats of the Etchells, Shields, and Luders 16 classes.2.2 The regatta is open to boats of the Rhodes 19, Melges 24, J/24, and Soling classes provided that at least five (5) boats in each respective class enter prior to the entry deadline.2.3 The organizing authority, at its discretion, may accept boats of additional one-design racing classes provided that at least five (5) boats in such a class apply for entry prior to the entry deadline.2.4 Eligible boats may enter by submitting a completed entry form, together with any required fee, to Chicago Yacht Club. Entry forms may be completed online at the Verve Cup Inshore website (Yacht Scoring). Go to  www.chicagoyachtclub.org  , select the Yacht Racing Events from the menu, then select Verve Cup Inshore and you will be directed to the Verve Cup Inshore website.2.5 Entry deadline is Monday, August 20, 2010 at 1700 CDT.3 FEES3.1 Required entry fees are as follows:Entry Fee $85.00Entry Fee US SAILING member $75.00Entry fee includes one admission to party and dining Saturday, August 28.3.2 Other: Add’l admission to party and dining (per person) $20.004 SCHEDULE AND VENUE4.1 Schedule of events:Friday, August 27 Registration 1700 to 2000Saturday, August 28 Competitors’s Meeting 0800First warning signal 1030Sunday, August 29 First warning signal 1030Harbor start will be at 0900 on Saturday, August 28 and Sunday, August 29.No warning signal will be made after 1330 hours on Sunday, August 29.A party and dining will follow racing on Saturday, August 28.An awards presentation will follow racing on Sunday, August 29.4.2 Number of Races. Three races are scheduled on Saturday, August 28 and two races are scheduled on Sunday, August 29. The actual number of races sailed each day will depend upon conditions.4.3 The races will be held in the open waters of Lake Michigan east of Belmont Harbor, Chicago, Illinois.5 SAILING INSTRUCTIONSSailing Instructions will be available prior to racing on the Chicago Yacht Club website, the Verve Cup Inshore website (Yacht Scoring), at regatta registration, and on the Official Notice Board at the Chicago Yacht Club Belmont Station.6 SCORINGThe Low Point Scoring System, RRS A4 will apply. A boat’s regatta score shall be the total of her race scores and no race score shall be excluded. This changes RRS A2.7 DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITYCompetitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See RRS 4, Decision to Race. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage, personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with, prior to, during or after the Regatta.8. 9 PARKING & TRAILER STORAGEDuring the regatta parking and trailer storage will be available in a public parking lot at Belmont Harboroperated by the Chicago Park District. Chicago Park District parking rates: Daily vehicle and trailer parking$8.00; Weekly trailer parking $25.00. Rates subject to change by the Chicago Park District.10 DIRECTIONS TO BELMONT HARBORTake I-90/94 to Chicago. Exit interstate at Irving Park Road, heading east. Turn right (south) onto InnerDrive/Marine Drive. Do not turn onto the entrance ramp to Outer Lake Shore Drive. Turn left (east) onBelmont Avenue. Belmont Avenue passes beneath Lake Shore Drive. Turn right at the end of Belmont Avenueonto the harbor access road. Note that trailers are prohibited on Outer Lake Shore Drive.
